The Larry McCarty Foundation for Kids makes gifts to Humboldt County children. Gifts are nominated by the staff at our member schools, and are made to individual children to encourage talents, fulfill dreams, support ambitions, and meet needs.
Since the foundation's inception in 1994, it has distributed such gifts as bikes, dance lessons, shoes, a hairstyle and manicure, roller blades, school supplies and backpackes, basketball camp enrollment, cooking and art classes, winter jackets, and funding for a class to make a quilt for a classmate fighting cancer.
A hallmark of the Larry McCarty Foundation is that it is structured to respond immediately to the need or aspiration of a child. In addition, the socio-economic background of a child is NOT a factor in determining eligibility for funding.
